QAZTECH Alliance Launches QAZTECH CLUB to Support Technology Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan

Astana — the QAZTECH Alliance announced the launch of Club-100, a new platform for leading technology entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan. The goal of the Club is to address key industry issues and develop the country's technological ecosystem. The first meeting was attended by more than 25 representatives of Kazakhstan's technological businesses.

Bolat Basheev, Chairman of the QAZTECH Club, noted: "Today's meeting is our first step towards forming a dialogue platform for the technology sector. A survey conducted among tech companies showed that most companies need not so much business protection but measures to attract clients. QAZTECH cannot promise you direct sales, but we can certainly guarantee that you will be heard."

Sabit Sukhanov, a member of the QAZTECH Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of uniting the efforts of technology companies: "Kazakhstan's economy cannot continue to grow relying solely on oil and metals. Sustainable development of the country is impossible without the participation of entrepreneurs, especially technological ones. We strive to make our sector an important part of Kazakhstan's economy."

Olzhas Satiev, President of the Center for Analysis and Investigation of Cyber Attacks, expressed concern about monopolization in the technology sector: "Many subsidiaries of state companies, for example, in the field of cybersecurity, receive money, while private companies are left out. There is also a mafia around targeted funding – there is money, but it's difficult to obtain it. We have funds, but it's hard to achieve their effective use."

Almas Tokanov from ARG Group stated: "Our market is quite large, and there are growth opportunities, especially if we can influence the transparency of tenders and procurements, particularly in large projects like KPO, TCO, Kashagan, NCOC, and consider the demonopolization of national companies that create subsidiary IT companies and inefficiently use specialists."

Azat Yesenov, Director of "Yessen & Company," stressed the importance of regional development in Kazakhstan: "A strong Kazakhstan means strong regions. We see a high concentration of advanced technologies in Astana and Almaty, but for Kazakhstan to become a regional economic power, we need to develop the regions. We are opening BPO (business process outsourcing) centers focused on export and see great potential for development."

Magzum Tolesh, CEO of EasyTap, spoke about the importance of correctly diagnosing clients' needs:
"A well-asked question is already half the success. We need to develop unified standards for interaction with clients to effectively solve their tasks."

Nurlan Rakhmetov, responsible for GR of the QAZTECH Alliance, noted: "We are against so-called 'cave lobbying.' Sustainable business development is possible only when initiatives take into account the interests of not only companies but also the state and society as a whole. We have held several meetings with government agencies and Parliament members and are ready to gather and bring key issues of the technology sector to discussion through various platforms."

The QAZTECH-100 Club will continue its work supporting technology entrepreneurship, and new meetings and initiatives are planned for the near future.
