Economic growth in Kazakhstan is slowing down due to both external and internal factors. To restore momentum in a changing global environment and address accumulated internal imbalances, as well as to solve key medium-term development tasks, it is necessary to adjust the economic model.
The economic model must be adapted to conditions characterized by large-scale technological shifts, slowing globalization, increased attention to climate issues, and uncertainty in commodity markets. The main characteristics of this model include:
maintaining macroeconomic stability in the face of high external volatility
creating a large number of new, high-productivity jobs to redistribute the workforce from agriculture and employ young people
shifting economic development from the state sector and large corporations to small and medium-sized businesses
reducing inequality and equalizing income distribution
moving Kazakhstan into the category of high-income countries
From April to August 2024, the QAZTECH Alliance Technology Companies conducted a round of strategic consultations with key players in the country's technology and innovation ecosystem, both from the state and private sectors.
Based on these consultations, the "QAZTECH 2025 Guide" was developed to transition to a new economic model. This guide presents a strategic vision for the neo-industrialization and digital transformation of Kazakhstan through the implementation of advanced technologies, the development of a national innovation system, and adaptation to new global trends.
